Although the UFC is putting on arguably their biggest card of the year on Saturday night, the world is understandably talking about the super fight in August which will see Conor McGregor switch from the Octagon to the boxing ring to battle Floyd Mayweather Jr.

We’ve seen the verbal war between the pair already when they embarked on a four-city press tour, as they got even more people excited and wanting to tune in - and hopefully, the actual fight lives up to expectations.

SUPER FIGHT

Both fans and fighters have been discussing what they think the outcome will be, with some thinking the Notorious can shock the world and dent Money’s impeccable record, but others believe it’ll be an easy night for the American and he’ll stretch his record to 50-0.

With UFC 214 taking place on Saturday night in Anaheim, California, it was only right that one of the fighters the world can’t wait to see in action again has his say on Mayweather vs. McGregor.

Jon Jones makes his return to the Octagon to battle Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight championship he never lost, topping the bill on a stacked card also featuring Robbie Lawler, Cris Cyborg and Tyron Woodley.

Fans that have followed both Bones and the Irishman’s careers in the UFC know that they share a good relationship on-screen, and it’s been well documented whenever they’ve appeared at press conferences together so it wouldn’t have been a big surprise to hear Jones side with the current UFC lightweight champion.

PREDICTION

However, as happy as he is for McGregor to be in this position, Jones argued that it’s difficult to bet against greatness and feels Mayweather will leave Las Vegas the victor.

Speaking on FOX Sports 1, Jones said: “I think what makes this fight interesting is Conor McGregor’s punching power.

“But at the same time, guys like Miguel Cotto, [Oscar] De La Hoya, and all these guys, have tremendous punching power.

“But what they have, that McGregor doesn’t, is the years of experience and tightness to back up that punching power.

“I’m really happy for McGregor to be in this position, but if I were a betting man, I’d imagine that you would have to decide on the side of greatness.”

It’s a smart move by Jones to side with the overwhelming favourite, as his prediction could be spot on while a shocking win for McGregor would be a wonderful thing for UFC and its roster that one of their own did the unthinkable.
