Liverpool showed great promise for the season ahead on Saturday evening during their 3-0 pre-season friendly win away to Hertha Berlin. It wasn't a game of the highest magnitude, but an opportunity for Jurgen Klopp's men to showcase to the Reds' travelling faithful what they could be capable of this season. And if those 90 minutes were anything to go by, the Anfield faithful should be full of optimism for the upcoming campaign.Of course, Liverpool will face far tougher opposition in the Premier League this coming season, but the goals alone were enough to suggest they are capable of competing for the title this term.New signings Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah scored either side of Georginio Wijnaldum's low strike, and it was the first and last that were most notable.A fine header from Solanke gave Klopp's men the lead before Salah continued to impress during pre-season by lifting the ball over the onrushing 'keeper. And the Egypt international will have Philippe Coutinho to thank for setting him up perfectly to help seal a good win for the Reds.

Coutinho's assist for Salah

As can be seen in the video below, Coutinho turned his marker before driving forward and lifting a beautifully waited long pass to Salah, from his own half, for the forward to convert.

It was a satisfying goal to watch and a reminder that of just how important the Brazilian midfield magician is to the Anfield outfit.

Despite Jurgen Klopp making it clear Coutinho is not for sale and Liverpool having already rejected a huge bid from Barcelona, the Catalan giants are still strongly being linked with the 25-year-old.

A lot could happen over the remaining month of the transfer window, but the Reds are in a strong position considering Coutinho only signed a new long-term deal back in January.

Keeping Coutinho best business for Reds

While Liverpool continue to be linked with the likes of Naby Keita, Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the best piece of business they could do this summer is to keep ahold of Coutinho.

It's believed the Brazilian "loves" being at Liverpool, but it may also be hard for Coutinho to turn down a move to Barcelona.

The Reds are reported to have demanded £133 million from the Blaugrana, according to the Mirror. And it's no wonder the Merseysiders value him so highly.
