With the Daniel Cormier chapter officially in the books, Jon Jones can finally enjoy life again as the UFC light heavyweight champion.

Bones picked up a third-round knockout victory inside of the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on Saturday night, where he became the first man to stop DC and defeated his bitter rival for the second time – ending all hope of a trilogy taking place.

There are already some interesting options out there as potential challengers, with Volkan Oezdemir destroying Jimi Manuwa in 22-seconds on the same night, and his name is now being tossed around as a potential title challenger.

The other is Alexander Gustafsson, as The Mauler quickly called out Jones for their highly anticipated rematch after the Swede lost in the fight of the year against the American back at UFC 165.

However, Jones is aiming much higher than that and used his time on the microphone to call out former UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar is currently signed with WWE but there has been increased talks of him making another switch to the Octagon once his deal with Vince McMahon’s company expires.

He’s yet to re-enter the USADA testing pool which will allow him to serve the final six months or so of his one-year suspension, but he’s already responded to Jones that he’d be up for the fight.

While not everyone would be pleased to see Jones battle a heavyweight Lesnar, it’s obvious that financially, this fight makes complete sense as both men would be in for a huge payday.

BONES VS. THE BEAST?

Jones has now revealed that current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is an inspiration, and he’s the reason why he’s chasing a fight with Lesnar.

The Notorious has put his MMA career on hold as he aims to do the unthinkable next month when he has a super fight of his own, switching to the boxing ring to take on Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Now, Jones believes the Irishman has shown him that big paydays are not just a fantasy.

Jones claimed: “Obviously, Brock Lesnar has millions of followers outside of MMA, which is huge for our sport.

“And I feel like Brock has a pretty limited game. I just think it’s a winnable fight and there’s just so much reward that’s involved.

“Conor McGregor has shown me that these huge paydays are possible. It’s been an inspiration that you can do it.

“It’s like the first guy who went to the moon. I’ve no clue where this Brock Lesnar situation first came from or how it started, but it got serious really quick.

“It would be great for the MMA world and definitely bring more of the general public to mixed martial arts. That’s what we need, to expand our sport.”
