Back in the early 2000's, few strikers in world football were more formidable than Brazilian behemoth, Julio Baptista, who was aptly nicknamed 'The Beast'.

After moving from Sao Paolo in 2003, the square-shouldered South American lit up La Liga, scoring a hatful of goals across two seasons for Sevilla before making the move to Real Madrid.

He was not as prolific at Los Blancos but he is still remembered at the club as something of a cult hero, mainly due to the fact that few players in the history of the game have ever whacked a ball harder than Baptista.

The Brazilian had a short loan spell at Arsenal where he memorably scored four goals against Liverpool at Anfield in a League Cup game.

Stints at Roma and Malaga saw out his European adventure but now, the 35-year-old Goliath could be about to gain employment on the continent once again.

However, this time, Baptista will not be signing for a top-flight side, instead, he could be on his way to Bolton Wanderers, according to The Sun.

Yes, you read that correctly, Baptista could be about to showcase his skills at the Reebok to help the club on their return to the Championship.

The former Selecao man would not be the first big star to make the move to Bolton this millennium, with the likes of Jay-Jay Okocha, Youri Djorkaeff and Eidur Gudjohsen all turning out for the club. If you like, you could even include England fan favourite, Emile Heskey.

Baptista previously said at the Star Sixes tournament that his days as a professional are not over, despite being a free agent.

He said: “I’m not done yet, my agent is looking for a team so I can keep playing a little longer.

“Maybe it will be in Spain, or China, we will have to wait and see.”

For the sake of everyone in England, let's hope Baptista rejects Spain and China to sign for Wanderers. Just imagine the theatre if he comes up against Aston Villa's John Terry.
