The Chicago Bulls had high hopes last season when they signed veteran Dwayne Wade and paired him next to fellow All-Star Jimmy Butler.Despite his age, Wade was still a good acquisition by Chicago and he was hoping to make a huge difference to his hometown team. Wade and Butler struck up a close bond both on and off the floor and stuck together throughout the campaign which was filled with turmoil for the franchise. On multiple occasions, the duo called out their teammates and questioned their lack of heart and winning spirit as losses began to take their toll. The Bulls did eventually make the playoffs after ending the season well and finishing in the eighth spot. They almost upset the number one seeded Boston Celtics after they went 2-0 up in the series with two wins at TD Garden, but an injury to Rajon Rondo proved to be costly. Unfortunately for Wade and Butler, that series is now to be the last time the pair play together as the latter was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on draft night. Funnily enough, the two - along with Carmelo Anthony - were playing cards together in Paris when they found out about the news of his trade. The T-Wolves and Chicago will only play each other twice next year which means the close friends won't have many opportunities to square off. They are likely to want to guard one another and Wade revealed on Twitter exactly what he plans to do when he faces Butler for the first time."I get 6 fouls and I'm not afraid to use them in the first 6 mins!" he wrote, replying to a post eagerly anticipating the meeting of the All-Star duo.

Of course, D.Wade's comment is tongue in cheek and is meant as a joke but it will definitely be fun to see them go at it on the court.

The 35-year-old former Miami Heat star opted into his contract with the Bulls earlier in the offseason and will be part of a rebuilding job in the Windy City.

The franchise acquired Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn as part of the trade with Minnesota and also selected Finnish big man Lauri Markkanen with the number seven pick they also got in that deal.

With Chicago clearly heading in a different direction, it'll be interesting to see if Wade ends the season at the United Center or if they decide to give him a buyout to join a contending team.
