It’s a small travesty that Peter Crouch only has 284,000 followers on Twitter. The Stoke City striker is easily one of the funniest footballers on the social networking website; it’s such a shame he’s so criminally under-followed.If you use Twitter and don’t follow Crouchy, do yourselves a favour and get involved. You’re missing out big time. The 36-year-old isn’t a prolific tweeter - just the 993 tweets posts since he signed up in September 2014 - but it’s definitely a case of quality over quantity where the big man is concerned.Crouch, who might have a post-football career in stand-up comedy at this rate, posted another gem on Sunday night when asked if he will break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.

Shearer's tally is insane

Shearer’s tally is quite ridiculous. The former Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United striker leads the way at the top of the list with 260 Premier League goals to his name.

To put that into perspective, no other player has ever broken the 200-goal mark.

Rooney could break it

Wayne Rooney should this season. The 31-year-old is on 198 and still has a good few seasons left in him having just rejoined his boyhood club Everton from Manchester United.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Rooney breaks Shearer’s record in another three or four seasons time.

Crouchy probably won't

Crouch, on the other hand, can probably forget about breaking the record.

The former England striker currently has 103 Premier League goals to his name, which is still a better tally than the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dennis Bergkamp, Fernando Torres and Cristiano Ronaldo but not high enough to worry Shearer.

Realistically, Crouch only has another one, possibly two, seasons at the highest level.

Or does he?

Crouch's latest tweet goes viral

“How many seasons until you break Shearers record?” @DavidMaguire3 asked Crouch on Twitter.

Crouch responds brilliantly

Back came a typically humorous response…

“I’ve worked it out and retirement age in england is 65 isn't it so I should come close.”

Brilliant.

Needless to say, Twitter found Crouch’s response very amusing…

Like we said, give Crouchy a follow on Twitter.

You won’t regret it.
