Since Riyad Mahrez announced his desire to leave Leicester City this summer transfer window, many clubs have been battling it out for his signature, but one team has emerged as a solid front runner.

After a poor Premier League title defence last season with the Foxes, the Algerian has been looking to leave the club in order to keep himself involved in Champions League football during the 2017-18 campaign.

Arsenal and several other European clubs have expressed their interest in the winger, but no other club has got as close to securing Mahrez as their player than Roma.

The Italian giants have already had two bids for Mahrez rejected by Leicester City, but the fact they will be playing in the Champions League next season has made a move across Europe for the Algerian very appealing.

Roma has already had two bids of £20 million and £32 million for the 2015/16 PFA player of the year turned down by the Foxes, but according to the Mirror, Mahrez is hoping they return with a third bid for him as a switch to Serie A is starting to look like an interesting career move for him.

The Giallorossi has had their eyes on Mahrez ever since they knew Mohammed Salah was moving to Liverpool, but it looks like they're going to have to fork out £50 million in order to get the Premier League star.

The longer talks between Roma and Leicester go on, the less likely it looks that Arsenal will be able to sign the Algerian, as he has also been a target for them this summer. However, he may have to be convinced more to move to the Emirates as they won't have Champions League football next season.

Mahrez has scored 28 goals for the Foxes over the past two seasons, so his goals would be a welcome addition to a Gunners side that has already signed striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon on a five-year deal for a club-record fee of £46.5 million.

It would, therefore, be wise for Arsenal to match whatever offer Roma gives to Leicester that is accepted when you consider the fact they need more attacking options for next season.
