UEFA today handed Manchester United a fine of €10,000 for breaching anti-doping regulations, as well as €5000 fines for both Phil Jones and Daley Blind.Jones was also handed a two game ban for "directing insulting and directing abusive language" and "a lack of cooperation and respect" towards the official.Once you learn why he was being abusive, perhaps you may be more understanding. The breach of regulations happened after the Red Devils beat Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.Jones and Daley Blind were summoned by UEFA's anti-doping officers after the victory, which took place just days after a terrorist attack in Manchester which killed 22 people. The officers came to get the pair of defenders just as the squad were preparing themselves for a photo to pay tribute to all the people of Manchester.Jones, 25, had remained on the bench throughout the 2-0 win and was desperate to be part of the 'Manchester - A City United' photo. His Dutch teammate was in the photograph (below) but Jones was understandably upset to have been excluded.Jones was born just outside Manchester and emotions were obviously running high after a terribly sad week for the great city.

Blind was charged for "violation and non-compliance" with a rule that states: "Every player designated to undergo as doping control is personally responsible for reporting immediately to the doping control station as notified."

The 27-year-old versatile Dutchman was not handed a ban.

Manchester United are expected to appeal UEFA's ban ahead of the upcoming Super Cup final against Real Madrid.

The match is due to take place in Skopje on Tuesday August 8th but the Reds are now missing key central defenders Jones and Eric Bailly through suspension.
