Perhaps the most shocking storyline of the NBA offseason is that Kyrie Irving is unhappy in Cleveland and wants the Cavaliers to trade him.The star point guard has asked for a trade to the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs or Minnesota Timberwolves, citing a desire to be the face of his own franchise after spending the last three seasons in the shadow of LeBron James. The drama between the Cavaliers' superstars has many in the Cleveland area upset, and one television station decided to take matters in its own hands recently. As you can see in the video below, FOX 8 in Cleveland recently aired a commercial that, while never mentioning Irving by name, clearly tears into the star point guard for his perceived lack of loyalty to the city and to his teammates:

“You’re either with us or against us," the commercial begins. "You have to be tough to thrive here. And if you don’t want to be part of our story, that’s fine. This city belongs to The King. Cleveland’s own Fox 8 News. Oh yeah, enjoy the ring.”

If the Cavaliers are going to repair their relation ship with Irving, commercials like this aren't going to help convince him to stick around.

As ESPN's Stephen A. Smith reported recently, though, Irving's beef isn't with the city of Cleveland - it's about him wanting to lead his own team and not play second fiddle to LeBron anymore:

“Kyrie isn’t saying he’s better than LeBron and should be seen that way,” a close confidant of Irving’s told me. “He’s saying he’s not about to let LeBron ‘SON’ him … treating him like he’s the child and LeBron’s the father or big brother he’s supposed to look up to.

“Kyrie knows he’s a franchise-caliber talent. He wants to be treated like it. And he’s tired of hearing about what LeBron needs, and he’s damn sure tired of hearing LeBron sound like he always needs more. As if the crew they have isn’t enough.”

Teams are certainly interested in trading for the 25-year-old Irving, as recent reports have stated that the Cavaliers have fielded offers from as many as six teams already.

Though owner Dan Gilbert and new general manager Koby Altman expect Irving to be around when the Cavaliers start training camp later this summer, the damage may be irreparable at this point.

And, if Irving does end up forcing his way out of Cleveland, FOX 8 News will bear some of the responsibility for pushing him out the door.
