Nemanja Matic finally completed his move to Manchester United on Monday in a deal worth around £40 million. The Serbian becomes Man United’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku, and he expressed his excitement at the chance to work with Jose Mourinho again.“I am very happy because we will be again together,” he told MUTV, via the Telegraph“He is a great coach and when I worked with him before he gets the best from me and I improve a lot with him so I am very happy to be with him again, especially in this great club, so I am happy with that.“When the coach wants you to come to the club it gives you more motivation, more possibilities and I will give my best to show that I deserve to be at this club and part of this group.”With Matic on board, Mourinho will now feel confident that his midfield possesses sufficient steel as he attempts to lead his team to the Premier League title.

Hamann reacts on Twitter

The arrival of Matic has upset one former Liverpool player - Dietmar Hamann.

The German took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to express his regret that Liverpool didn’t make a move for the 29-year-old midfielder.

“Matic to United is a mighty coup for Mourinho’s men,” Hamann wrote. “I think LFC missed a trick, type of player we badly need. Fee looks reasonable too.”

But Liverpool supporters didn’t react well to Hamann’s tweet - especially after he said Matic’s £40m fee looks “reasonable”.

Hamann continued to defend his case that Matic would have fitted in well at Anfield.

He even reminded Liverpool fans of the two trophies Man United won last season, telling one to “get out [of] your cave”.

Matic's role at Man United

With Matic in midfield, Paul Pogba will have licence to support Lukaku in attack.

The Serbian, who won two Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge, stressed that his role is to provide “balance” to the team.

“That position, the player needs to give balance to the team and control the game and that is what I try to do,” he added.

“I can’t say that position is more important than any other position, but when you play in the centre of the pitch you have to know every time where the ball is, and when you attack you have to know how to stop the opponents to make counter attacks because in that position you have to give balance.”

Mourinho targeted four signings this summer and he still has one month left to get another deal done.
