Watch: Sturridge gets injured scoring vs Bayern

On his day, he’s one of the best strikers in the league. However, his constant injuries have prevented him from reaching the next level.

There was hope that this season things would change.

Klopp on Sturridge's fitness in pre-season

Just last week, Klopp revealed how the 27-year-old was looking very good in training.

“Good, very good. Daniel has been a part of full pre-season so far,” Klopp said.

“It's been quite intense but he's been part of pretty much every session.

“It's the best condition I've seen from him since I'm here. I came in October 2015 and Daniel, I think, was probably injured.

“Last pre-season was after a tournament and only a short break. But this year he has had a proper break and is in a good physical shape, absolutely.”

Sturridge provides update on his injury

So, when Sturridge pulled up and producing his fantastic finish, Liverpool fans were gutted for him.

They were desperate to hear some news on his injury and, luckily he provided some after the game.

When Goal’s Melissa Reddy asked him about his injury, he replied: “Nah, it's nothing serious.”

Phew.

Whether he’s saying that in hope or whether we can actually take his word for it is unknown, though.

Either way, he has just 10 days to get himself fit for the start of the new season. Although if he does, he might it difficult to start ahead of Roberto Firmino with the Brazilian producing a fantastic performance against the Bavarians.
