After a hugely successful debut campaign in which he won the Premier League title, the onus has been on Chelsea boss Antonio Conte to weave his magic in the transfer window.

Last summer, the Italian boss was decisive in the market, bringing in N'Golo Kante, David Luiz and Marcos Alonso, all of whom had a huge impact on the Blues' title-winning season.

This summer, things initially did not go to plan with Chelsea missing out on their number one striking target, Romelu Lukaku, after Conte told Diego Costa he was no longer part of his plans.

Alvaro Morata has been brought in instead for around £58m and with Michy Batshuayi performing brilliantly in pre-season, the manager's options look good.

Antonio Rudiger has also been brought in from Roma but one area Conte is yet to strengthen is the wing-back positions, which were crucial to his dominance over English football last season.

His pursuit of Juventus' Alex Sandro appears to have failed, however, Chelsea may have been given renewed hope in their chances of signing another Serie A star; Inter Milan's Antonio Candreva.

Conte has been keen on the Italian international for some time and always wanted him when he was the manager of Juventus.

According to the Mirror, Inter are prepared to let Candreva go this summer for around £23m if they can acquire Lazio's Keita Balde as his replacement.

The Nerazzurri are locked in battle with Juventus for the highly-rated Senegalese winger, who scored 16 league goals last season.

Candreva operates as an attacking winger for Inter, however, for the Italian national side, he is often used as an attacking right-back, hence why Conte is so keen on him.

The 30-year would provide cover in a number of roles and would bring crucial top-level experience to a Chelsea side looking to compete on multiple fronts next season.
