In just over three weeks, the world of boxing with witness one of the most highly anticipated clashes of the year in Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor.

The multi-million pound fight has been the centre of attention since the official announcement, which gathered further pace during the four international press conferences last month.

The bout will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26, and it is then the two giants of combat sport will clash for supremacy.

McGregor has recently complained regarding certain stipulations over the make of the gloves the duo will be wearing on fight night, and vented his anger for the power his American counterpart has held over the terms of the bout.

But, the latest post by Mayweather seems to appear that the boxing icon is ready to accept the challenge of the MMA ace and fight with 8oz gloves, comparatively lighter than usual.

As per rules, boxers have to fight with 10oz gloves which is the standard for a super welterweight fight, while 8oz gloves are used in lower divisions.

Mayweather took to social media addressing the issue with a picture captioned: “McGregor… Let’s fight in 8oz gloves.”

Along with the image, Mayweather quoted it with: “Don't believe what you hear in the media. Don't believe what you hear on blog sites.

“If it's not coming directly from me, then it's not true. I'm telling McGregor, "Let's fight in 8 oz gloves.

“McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I'll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves.

“Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I'm willing to accommodate.

“Let's give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see.”

By agreeing to the change in glove stipulation, the pair will forgo the extra protection afforded by the heavier gloves.

Only time will tell if the decision will favour the Irishman, or whether Mayweather will continue his domination at the elite level.

Being termed as ‘the fight of the century’, ‘Money’ will return to action after calling time on his career in 2015, while it will be the first time the UFC champion Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor takes to the boxing ring in his pro career.

Nonetheless, with astounding amount of money at stake as two heavyweights face-off in Vegas, the fight will undoubtedly live up to the billing with fans of boxing as well as UFC expecting an enticing contest ahead.
