For weeks, there has been constant reports about Neymar joining Paris Saint-Germain.But that’s all they were - reports. We heard very little from either Barcelona or PSG or, in fact, the player himself. The closest we got to news was from Gerard Pique. He posted an Instagram alongside Neymar with two simple words: “He stays.”Everyone thought it was official confirmation. That was until the defender explained that he didn’t actually know what Neymar was going to do."Neymar and I we are very close and I want him to stay and I know the situation," he said.“Right now he doesn’t know what to do and we are trying to help him, the ones [on the team] that are more close to him to take the right decision.“We will see. The tweet was about pushing him to stay. I want him to stay and we will see what happens.“It depends on what he wants. He can be in all the clubs in all the world.

“He can be in Paris, Barcelona, Chelsea or City. All the clubs will want him. It’s about your priorities. What do you want? Do you want more money? Do you want to win titles?

"It's happening here and it's happening in the NBA as well. There are some players that are not earning all the money that they deserve to win titles.

"So sometimes you have to take decisions in life and it's all about priorities."

You’d think that Pique’s little talk might do the trick.

However, it seems Neymar move to PSG edged ever closer on Wednesday morning. The Brazilian was excused from training to sort out his future with an official statement saying: "Before the morning session began, Neymar Jr. informed those present of his wish to leave the Club and was therefore given permission to miss training and resolve his future."

And there were plenty of Real Madrid fans delighted to hear this news. Not just because their El Clasico rival might lose a world-class player but because it takes Pique look extremely foolish.

We all know about Pique’s relationship with Real and Los Blancos supporters were more than happy to rub it in his face.
