The WWE Title match at SummerSlam is officially set following last night's (Tues. August 1, 2017) SmackDown Live main event. The WWE Title found its way around former Three Man Band (3MB) member Jinder Mahal's waist earlier this year when he shocked the WWE Universe at the Backlash pay-per-view (PPV). Mahal had previously been released from WWE back in 2014 but was resigned in 2016 after working the independent scene for a while. Following a brief program with Rusev, Mahal was the runner-up in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33 this past April. Mahal was defeated by Mojo Rowley thanks to some help from New England Patriots' Tight End Rob Gronkowski. As a result of the Superstar Shake-Up, Mahal was moved to SmackDown Live. He won a Six Pack Challenge match against Rowley, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper to become the new No. 1-contender for the WWE Championship, then held by Randy Orton. Thanks to some help from the Singh Brothers, Mahal was able to capture the WWE Title at Backlash, as well as complete a successful title defense against Orton at the Money In The Bank PPV. A third and final confrontation took place for the title at Battleground inside the Punjabi Prison structure, however, Mahal was again successful thanks to help from not only The Singh Brothers - but the returning Great Khali as well.A match between longtime WWE mega-star John Cena and former New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star Shinsuke Nakamura main evented SmackDown Live last night to determine who would get the opportunity to challenge Mahal for the title at SummerSlam later this month.Cena had just made his return to WWE TV on the July 4th episode of SmackDown Live and came fresh off a Flag Match win at Battleground over Rusev. Cena and Nakamura put on a heck of a match that really seemed to live up to all the hype surrounding it for the past week since its announcement. At one point in the match, Nakamura hit a Back Suplex on Cena in which "The Leader Of The Cenation" seemed to land pretty harshly on his neck. Thankfully Cena was able to get up after that and finish the match.Nakamura went on the win the bout, and after Cena had three worlds for an apologetic Nakamura following the nasty bump:

What are your thoughts on Cena's worlds to Nakamura after taking his nasty bump? Have YOUR say in the comments section below and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
