Coates: No issues with Tuncay

Stoke chairman Peter Coates insists forward Tuncay Sanli does have a future at the club despite the latest hiccup in the Turkey international's short career at the Britannia Stadium.

The £5million summer signing from Middlesbrough, who has yet to start a Barclays Premier League match, came off the bench in the second half of Sunday's defeat at Hull but was on the field just seven minutes before being taken off again after Abdoulaye Faye's sending-off forced manager Tony Pulis into a reshuffle.

Tuncay marched straight down the tunnel to the dressing rooms but Coates said there were no issues with the 27-year-old. "He wants to play, like every other player wants to play, but these things happen," said the chairman.

"I am sure he will be fine. It is competitive and everyone has to earn their place. He is no different to anyone else in that respect.

"It was unfortunate for him to go on and then come off so soon after and he is bound to be disappointed.

"But you have to go forward and it is up to us to manage the situation well."

Coates told Tuncay he needs to be patient as he was confident Pulis would work out a way to integrate him into the team.

"We are very pleased to have him at the club and I am sure Tony will find the right role for him and he will be a good player for us," he told The Sentinel.

"Sometimes things take longer than people want and I know our supporters are anxious. But we just want to win football matches.

"Tony tries to pick the best team to win him any particular game and he will make substitutions for the same reason."
