Alongside the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, everyone is aware that with their talisman sitting in behind, Liverpool would be a serious force.

However, the club's former captain Paul Ince has other ideas and believes that Coutinho's importance is overrated.

In fact, the Englishman even thinks there is a player at the club that is more important than the South American star.

No, it's not Mane, Adam Lallana or Firmino, it is Mr Reliable, James Milner.

"Forget Coutinho, James Milner is Liverpool's best player," said Ince after Liverpool's Audi Cup game against Atletico Madrid, per Mirror.

"He can play in every position."

Well, the second part is correct to sone degree with Milner - a midfielder by trade - operating as a left-back for the whole of last season.

But, Liverpool fans were not happy with Ince's controversial claim and took to Twitter to voice their rage.

They seem to know who their most important player is. Klopp has experimented with Coutinho in a deeper role during pre-season and it could be potentially devastating.

The Brazilian can scheme in midfield and feed the likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino.

On paper, it is a winning formula and if Klopp can find the right defensive balance, Liverpool could be the team to beat.
