The opening betting odds for Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre have been released.

For many fans, this fight was never going to happen due to the back and forth decision making from UFC President Dana White.

The former UFC welterweight champion St-Pierre will come out of retirement to challenge for the UFC middleweight championship against Bisping later this year. It’s a fight that has been talked about a ton as some fans like it, and some do not. There is a lot of questions leading into this bout such as how will St-Pierre look after a four-year layoff from the sport.

St-Pierre is, in fact, one of the most tenured fighters in UFC history as far as actual cage time goes as in 21 UFC fights, he has amassed 5 hours 28 minutes and 12 seconds of fight time. The experience will certainly come in handy as St-Pierre has been out of action for well over three years but Bisping is experienced as well.

The UFC attempted to book this fight earlier this year, but after delays from both fighters, White made the call for current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to fight “GSP.” However, that bout then subsequently canceled due to Woodley’s performance at UFC 214 against Demian Maia.

According to the oddsmakers, St-Pierre is actually the favorite heading into UFC 217. St-Pierre is a -155 (20/31) favorite over +125 underdog Bisping (5/4). For those who are looking to bet on the fight, here is the breakdown. A winning $100 bet on St-Pierre would result in a net profit of $64.52 while a winning $100 bet on Bisping would net a profit of +$125.

St-Pierre has won his last twelve fights and was the favorite going into his past five bouts. On the flip side, Bisping is currently riding a five-fight winning streak that includes a title win over Luke Rockhold and title defense over rival Dan Henderson in October 2016.

The event is set to take place on November 4th at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. As of this writing, no other bouts have been added to the card. The UFC historically stacks up the card for events that are held in the final month of the year.

It will be interesting to see what other bouts are added to the card and how it will do on pay-per-view. With the lack of fan interesting, it could not do as well as some think it will do.
