Watch: Neymar's farewell video

While Neymar was bidding an emotional farewell to the club and players who helped him in his brilliant rise to superstardom, PSG were loving it.

PSG trolled Gerard Pique on Twitter

The Parisiens trolled Barcelona on Twitter by posting a photo of Marco Verratti, a long-term interest of Barça’s, and even mocked Gerard Pique with one of their several posts about Neymar.

The post includes a 30-second clip filled with some fancy editing and a photoshopped image of Neymar wearing a PSG kit.

But it’s the caption that really does the damage.

On July 23, Pique posted an image of himself with Neymar with the caption: “He stays”.

It seemed to suggest that the Brazil international had snubbed a move to PSG and committed his future to the Blaugrana.

But, less than two weeks on, Neymar is a PSG player.

And where Pique said “he stays”, PSG wrote: “He signs”, adding a winking emoji just to rub it in that bit more.

Of course, PSG’s debilitating exit at the hands of Barcelona in last season’s Champions League provides extra excitement at poaching one of Ernesto Valverde’s key players.

To call this a statement signing would be an understatement.

PSG failed to win the Ligue 1 title for the first time since 2012 last season but Unai Emery has eyes on more than just reclaiming the title from AS Monaco - he wants to win the Champions League.

PSG's potential XI

Taking a look at PSG’s potential XI for this season, you have to think it’s a possibility.

Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Julian Draxler in attack. Thiago Silva and Dani Alves in defence.

It’s an exciting time to be a PSG fan.
