Barcelona defender Gerard Pique shared a beautiful message for Neymar on his social media accounts on Friday morning.

Set to kick off their Ligue 1 season on Saturday, PSG's jaw-dropping €222m signing is due to be introduced to the press on Friday lunchtime.

The 30-year-old Spaniard caused quite a stir last week when he tweeted a photo with Neymar alongside the caption "he stays".

Thursday night's confirmation of Neymar's €222m transfer to PSG suggests that Pique definitely jumped the gun with his announcement.

He and Neymar became close friends over the past four years and the farewell message shared by the Catalan legend proves he has no ill-will for his former teammate.

The 25-year-old Brazilian won everything there is to win at Barcelona but failed to put an end to the Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo Ballon d'Or monopoly.

In his message, Pique insisted that Neymar deserves to fulfil the dreams he has remaining, which is seemingly referring to the Ballon d'Or.

Despite producing magic at Barcelona, the Brazilian seemed highly unlikely to step out of Messi's shadow and become the main man.

At PSG, he'll be able to forge his own path and it doesn't hurt that he has risen above his La Liga counterparts in the list of the highest paid players on the planet.

Read the touching message from Pique below:

"Ever since you arrived, I saw you as my little brother. Everything you did, your way of understanding life and football. We were very similar and connected right away.

"It's been a huge pleasure having you by my side over these years. I will remember all the moments we've spent together, inside and out of the game. I'm glad you won it all in the Barça t-shirt. This will remain forever. Players like you make this club and its story bigger.

"I hope you're doing great in the future. You deserve that the dreams you have left to fulfil will come true in Paris. And to finish, remember to always do what our friend JC did: MAGIC.

"I love you,

"Gerard."

You can be sure it'll be an emotional affair when Neymar returns to the Camp Nou for the first time with PSG.
