In a summer when the transfer window has been completely nonsensical, AC Milan have somehow managed to rise above it.

The Rossoneri are in the midst of a rebuilding project and Vincenzo Montella has made a number of important signings.

Leonardo Bonucci for just £35million has to be one of the biggest bargains in recent memory, considering Premier League clubs were being linked with £60m bids for the centre-back.

Crucially, Gianluigi Donnarumma has signed a new contract, which is almost like a new signing in itself.

The likes of Lucas Biglia and Andre Silva have also arrived at the San Siro, leaving Milan in pretty fine shape ahead of the new season.

They are still on the hunt for one more striker, and this is where they're likely to spend some serious money.

Milan have impressed with their business so far, but they're going to have to fork out a huge amount to secure one of the forwards on the seven-man shortlist that's been cited by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Seven incredible options

General manager Marco Fassone has caused a stir by confirming to Mediaset that he wouldn't say no to Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Radamel Falcao.

And it seems the former Manchester United duo are just two of the names being talked about in the Milan boardroom, even if they are among the less likely targets.

La Gazzetta report that the Serie A club are continuing discussions with Borussia Dortmund over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, despite BVB recently announcing that the 28-year-old would remain at the Westfalenstadion next season.

Milan are going to spend big

A move for Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinić looks equally promising. Negotiating with La Viola may present a problem, however, as have already sanctioned exits for a number of key players this summer.

While one of the seven targets is unknown, the final two who are being mentioned are Andrea Belotti and Diego Costa. There remain doubts about the latter, who has set his heart on re-joining Atletico Madrid regardless of their transfer embargo.

Their pursuit of Belotti seems unlikely to end well either, as the Torino star has a €100m release clause.

With Montella already having frozen out Carlos Bacca, it's imperative that he lands at least one of the strikers on his list as soon as possible.
