It’s safe to say that the WWE and CM Punk probably aren’t on the best of terms right now.

We know the history – Punk wasn’t happy with his position in the company and we last saw him compete inside of a WWE ring at the Royal Rumble event back in 2014 and didn’t appear on Monday Night RAW or SmackDown that week.

WWE EXIT

He revealed all when speaking to Colt Cabana on his podcast, and based on what went down it seems highly unlikely that he’ll ever make a return – certainly not in an in-ring capacity -
but stranger things have happened in WWE.

Since then, WWE has been relentless in shutting down the CM Punk chants from fans that try hijacking the show.

Now, the former WWE Champion is hopeful of securing a second professional fight in the UFC, following on from his disastrous debut at UFC 203 when he lost in two minutes and 14 seconds against Mickey Gall.

Whether that happens, though, remains to be seen but both he and his team at Roufusport MMA Academy seem hopeful of that happening at some point this year.

It’s a question that’s always going to be brought up, and one man who knows Punk very well is current WWE star, Samoa Joe.

The Sun UK recently caught up with The Destroyer to promote the upcoming SummerSlam event, where he’ll be part of the blockbuster Fatal Four-Way main event where Brock Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship against Joe, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.

JOE'S OPINION

Joe and Punk know each other pretty well based on the history they shared back at Ring of Honor, including battles over the World Championship and are often credited for putting the promotion on the map.

The question was raised to Joe on whether Punk will ever come back to WWE, and revealed that you can’t rule it out because he does things his own way.

According to Wrestling Inc, Joe said: “You never know with Punk.

“He is definitely somebody who does things his own way and I think the biggest thing is that you can never count out what his next move will be.

“I think no one would have predicted his move to UFC, nobody would have predicted a lot of things he does, so whatever he chooses to do, he will do what feels best in the moment.”

Burnt bridges are often mended in WWE, as we’ve seen in the past ranging from Bret Hart to the Ultimate Warrior, so you can’t completely rule out a return in the future but considering he’s now 38-years-old, you’d have to think that time is running out if he wants to still perform.
