As expected, both Floyd Mayweather Jr and the UFC’s Conor McGregor have traded plenty of verbal insults, even before their fight was officially announced. The outspoken Irishman did his level best to get under Money’s skin, taunting him on social media at every given opportunity in an attempt to get him to sit up and listen – he succeeded, and the American is coming out of retirement to try and stretch his impeccable record to 50 straight wins.

SUPER FIGHT

We were treated to some quality entertainment last month when they embarked on a four-city press tour, with many claiming the Notorious emerged victorious when they took to the microphone in Los Angeles, Toronto, Brooklyn and London.

We had McGregor questioning Mayweather’s fashion sense in his tracksuits and supposed high heels, while Mayweather made it his mission to hammer home the fact that McGregor has tapped out three times in his career.

However, if there’s someone who wasn’t getting involved in the trash talk, it was Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe.

Ellerbe has been full of praise for McGregor ever since the fight has been made official, and even cast doubt on those that poked fun at the UFC lightweight champion’s training footage, claiming that he clearly wanted the world to see it and knows he's much better than that.

MCGREGOR PRAISE

Now, he’s at it again and this time he’s revealed just what makes McGregor the dangerous fighter that he is, claiming Mayweather is preparing for the awkward style he brings to the table.

Speaking with Fight Hub TV, Ellerbe said: “I think he brings a lot of things to the fight.

“He has an awkward style that is kinda difficult to prepare for, and he’s very strong. He has great timing. I’m impressed. You gotta respect the guy.

“When he says he’s gonna do something, he’s been doing it. He’s not gonna do that to Floyd Mayweather, but he’s been able to do that.”

Much has been made of the dangerous left-hand McGregor possesses, and it’s often his most trustworthy tool when entering the Octagon after finishing plenty of his opponents.

While Ellerbe has claimed that Mayweather is training for that awkward style, fans will be hoping it’s not another cat and mouse chase the American has become famous for towards the end of his professional career.

He has already come out and revealed that he’ll go toe to toe with his Irish rival, so he may have a game plan to avoid McGregor’s biggest strengths.
