The two-time Unified Light Welterweight world champion boxer Amir Khan has had his say on the Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather fight, which takes place in Las Vegas later this month.

Khan himself has previously expressed an interest in crossing the divide between MMA and boxing, as McGregor will do in his fight against Mayweather.

Khan told ESPN back in March, when asked about a potential fight between himself and McGregor: "I always said i'd give it a go, i'm a fighter who likes to fight and try different things ... In boxing I think I beat him quite easily, but in MMA I think it might be tough but you just don't know."

Khan has not fought since May 2017, when he was knocked out by Canelo Alvarez, and he has yet to announce his comeback fight.

However, he announced in 2016 that he would be launching the "Super Fight League", an MMA league consisting of eight teams fighting for the title, as opposed to individuals.

But, despite the boxer's own interest in MMA, he believes the crossover will be too much for McGregor.

He told Gulf News: "I think it's going to be a s#@t fight, it's all just talk at the moment. Mayweather will simply outclass him.

"I mean, if you look at it, it's not really a fight. McGregor has no boxing background or experience. I can safely predict a horrible knockout.

"Mayweather will have his first knockout since he knocked out Ricky Hatton. He's not had a KO for the past six years, but with this one against McGregor he is bound to be an easy winner."

Despite his certainty in the outcome, Khan believes the fight shows McGregor's business savvy, and ability to market himself effectively.

Khan told ESPN in March: "Conor's a fighter who's put UFC on the map, he knows how to market himself. This is what fighting is all about, it's all about promoting yourself, sometimes being that bad guy and making yourself a big name."

He continued in this vein in a more recent interview with Gulf News, saying: "It would be a great way for Mayweather to end this if he knocks out an MMA superstar like McGregor, who knows very well that this is a free fight for him ... because he can turn around and say that he's lost a boxing fight to an actual boxer.

"He can always say 'I have never been a boxer. I've always been an MMA fighter'. McGregor has nothing to lose."

Khan continued, saying: "And at the end of it all, he [McGregor]  will make a cool $100. It's good business."
