Rodgers looking to the future

Brendan Rodgers feels he needs two more transfer windows before judgment can be passed on his job at Reading.

A new striker tops the former Watford boss' wish list in the January transfer window with Noel Hunt ruled out for the season. And speculation around his position after a poor start to the current Championship campaign is not stopping Rodgers planning further ahead.

He told the Reading Chronicle: "There's no doubt that over the course of this season there will be a big transition in the squad. When I came here in the summer there were players I knew would naturally move on. I expected that but the fact is they have to be replaced."

He added: "So far we've brought in players to make up the squad and supplement it. I'm talking very good young players with bright futures, but we need experience to go with that.

"We're looking closely at the situation because the next two transfer windows will be big periods of transition for us. When that happens I believe we will really push on."
