With the new Premier League season now just days away, the time has come for people to assess whether clubs have had a productive transfer window.

Victor Lindelof was brought in from Benfica to add further steel to the defence, while £75m man Romelu Lukaku will be an ideal replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

His latest masterstroke was stealing Nemanja Matic away from Chelsea in a £40m deal, a transfer which should help bring out the best in Paul Pogba.

Now, Mourinho is keen to invest in the market again and the Portuguese boss may have been handed a massive boost by one of his favoured targets.

Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker is known to be on the club's radar and the latest quotes from his agent, Christophe Henrotay, suggest that a move could certainly materialise this summer.

He told Foot Mercato: “Anderlecht want to keep him but the kid wants a new challenge.

“We’ll see if we can find an agreement with the club, but that seems difficult.”

The Belgian international could be available for around €25-30m which in the current market, is a steal for a highly-rated 22-year-old.

With United returning to the Champions League, a strong squad is necessary and Dendoncker would provide excellent depth in midfield.

However, the Red Devils may have to act fast with free-spending Paris Saint-Germain and Everton both also after his signature.

Mourinho has already stated that he wishes to complete four major transfers this summer and after making three great ones already, acquiring Dendoncker for a modest fee would cap off a stellar window.
