Jon Jones wasted very little time in turning his attention to his next target after knocking out Daniel Cormier in the third-round at UFC 214 to become the light heavyweight champion for the second time.Had DC avenged his defeat to Bones that night, we’d probably be talking about a potential trilogy fight between the pair, but Jones scuppered those plans with a vicious head kick which all but ended Cormier’s hopes of facing Jones ever again.

LESNAR CALLOUT

There was surprise to what Jones said after the fight, as he delivered plenty of praise to the former champion as he buried the hatchet, while UFC commentator Joe Rogan was slammed for interviewing Cormier after the fight who was in tears.

As expected, several challengers have emerged and everyone has their opinion on who should be next to fight for the championship.

The two that make the most sense, though, are clearly Alexander Gustafsson – who many believe actually defeated Jones when they last met – and Volkan Oezdemir who stunned Jimi Manuwa at UFC 214 in just 42 seconds.

While it would be great to see those two fight to determine a number one contender, Jones wasted little time in calling out Brock Lesnar following his win and by the sounds of things, it seems like WWE’s Universal Champion is up for it too.

One man who knows exactly what Lesnar brings to the table is Randy Couture, as the three-time UFC heavyweight champion relinquished the gold at UFC 91 against Lesnar.

COUTURE'S PREDICTION

While the UFC Hall of Famer put up a great fight, he eventually succumbed to Lesnar’s superior ground and pound game, and TMZ Sports caught up with The Natural to discuss how this fight would go down.

Despite the weight difference, Couture believes Jones has all the required tools to defeat Lesnar – should they ever fight.

The 54-year-old said: “He can compete with Lesnar.

“He’s long, rangy, a great wrestler, very dynamic striking. He’s got all the tools he needs to compete with Lesnar.

“He’s got to get some very big partners and get used to it. Worst-case scenario, he gets knocked down and Lesnar gets on top of him.

“He’s got to be able to survive that. So, we’ll see.”

While Lesnar’s ground game could be crucial, it may not even play a major role as many believe Jones’ unorthodox style on his feet will simply be too much for Lesnar in the first place.

All we can do is wait and see how Lesnar’s contractual situation plays out with the WWE, and whether he’s interested in making another comeback to the UFC to tackle perhaps his biggest challenge yet.
