We are just a few weeks out from the biggest superfight of this generation, as UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will be making his professional boxing debut against, arguably, the greatest of all time in undefeated 49-0 Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather has proven to be the greatest defensive fighter of his generation, having never lost in his legendary career against some of the biggest legends the sport has seen. "Money" has tested himself against the likes of Miguel Cotto, Andre Berto, Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez, and Manny Pacquiao. Despite some of the best efforts from the greatest names the sport has ever seen, nobody has been able to down Mayweather in the squared circle.

McGregor has become the biggest star the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) has ever seen, with his brash trash talk in the lead up to his fights, his ability to mysteriously predict the outcomes of his bouts to a tee, and his ridiculous knockout ability really resonating with MMA fans. Having climbed up the ladder as one of the biggest names in sports, a dream match of sorts began being discussed between McGregor and Mayweather.

After months of speculation, the fight was finally made official earlier this year with a date of August 26th from the T-Mobile Arena being named. After a four stop World Tour, which featured some classic banter between the two brash rivals, they are now able to focus on the physical preparations for the fight.

McGregor made the move to bring in former two weight boxing champ Paulie Malignaggi to his training camp as a sparring partner, however, after pictures from what looked to be a knockdown by McGregor to Malignaggi leaked out, the former boxing champ decided to leave the camp in a rage. He took to social media to express his anger for the photos being leaked and claimed that it was simply a shove down that was captured on camera.

Malignaggi recently took to Fox 5’s Sports Xtra to talk about what happened, and explained that "The Notorious One" won't be able to evolve in his boxing game because of his arrogance (quotes via MMA Fighting):

"My problem with Conor is his arrogance,” said Malignaggi.

“His arrogance is to the point where he can’t progress. He can’t learn. He just wants a bunch of yes men around him.

“He doesn’t want to be told that he’s doing something wrong. He doesn’t want to be told that he needs to make progress, so that he needs to change certain things.

“Whatever he’s doing, he just wants to be told how great he’s doing.”
