Nick Kyrgios is never too far from the centre of attention whether he’s in top form or struggling to shift through the gears. The volatile Australian prides himself on being a true entertainer on the tennis court, albeit not quite through the same methods as Roger Federer or Gael Monfils.Kyrgios – who teamed up with coach Sebastien Grosjean earlier this year – is looking to recover from a series of disappointing results throughout the first half of 2017.

GIVEMESPORT will broadcast live coverage of the US PGA Championship on Facebook from 10-13 August. Live coverage starts Thursday 10 August, 18:00-00:15 HERE

The 22-year-old succumbed to second-round defeats at both the Australian Open and Ronald Roland Garros before bowing out at the first hurdle of Wimbledon this year.

Krygios has only reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam twice since embarking on an incredible run to the quarter-finals of his home major back in 2015.

Since his meteoric rise to the top, Kyrgios’ commitment to fulfilling his undeniable potential has been questioned by high-profile figures on several occasions.

But while the world number 24 could do with some guidance to keep his career on track, capturing the attention of spectators is one thing with which he needs no assistance.

Kyrgios – a man who once answered a phone call on-court during a mixed doubles match – has produced one of his better moments of comedy during a warm-up event for the US Open.

The 2014 Wimbledon quarter-finalist cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Paolo Lorenzi of Italy at the Montreal Masters on Wednesday, though not without being involved in a hilarious mix-up.

MISTAKEN IDENTITY

As most professional players do, Kyrgios had wiped his face clean with a towel before tossing it behind him towards who he thought was a ball kid.

But instead of being caught by a helping hand, the sweaty towel was instead allowed to hit the court floor by a stony-faced line judge.

Kyrgios was then forced to pick up the towel himself before passing it off to someone whose duties actually including handling them for players.

It makes for quite funny viewing – check out the incident in the video below.

KYRGIOS RESPONDS

Kyrgios – who next faces German Alexander Zverev in the third round – saw the funny side of what happened and later tweeted about it.

“Haha real talk. That’s my bad. I was sweating so much,” he wrote.

Kyrgios has been keeping everyone on their toes in Montreal this week including a fan with whom he organised to hit up with after speaking on Twitter.

Well, he certainly knows how to please a crowd.
