Arsenal and Leicester City get the 2017-18 Premier League campaign underway on Friday night.

The two sides meet at the Emirates Stadium and Arsene Wenger’s side, as the hosts, are expected to secure all three points.

Nothing less than a win will be deemed acceptable by the expectant Arsenal supporters, who will quickly turn on the team and Arsene Wenger unless they see proof their team have what it takes to seriously challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Last season’s Premier League campaign couldn’t have gone much worse for Arsenal, who finished outside of the Champions League places for the first time since Wenger took charge of the club in 1996.

The Gunners have looked decent in pre-season, however, and gave their long-suffering fans something to smile about last weekend by beating Chelsea in the Community Shield.

Both of the club’s summer signings, Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, will be hoping to make a big impact on their Premier League debuts.

Sky Sports will cover the action

Sky Sports will cover the match on their revamped Friday Night Football show.

Kelly Cates has replaced Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley, who quit following abuse from viewers, and she will be joined on Friday evening by Sky’s leading pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.

Carragher trolls Arsenal fans ahead of opener

And on the eve of the Premier League opener, Carragher couldn’t resist trolling Arsenal fans on Instagram.

Posting a photo from the moment he threw a coin at Arsenal fans back in 2002, when he was only 24, the retired defender wrote: “At Arsenal tomorrow for the start of @premierleague had a problem with a few Gooners a while back, showered me with coins after Bergkamp got a red card after two footed tackle on me so threw one back & it hit every one of them! Then I got banned!!

“See you tomorrow Gooners 😘⚽️“

Liverpool fans can't stop laughing
