Jose Mourinho envisioned signing four players in this transfer window but, despite the fact that Manchester United have succeeded in bringing in just three players, the Portuguese remains happy.

“The squad is good and, as I told a few months ago, I was hoping for four players to improve the squad,” he said earlier this month, per the Independent

“The club did a fantastic job, absolutely fantastic, by getting three of them, which is difficult in the crazy market where we are now.

“To get three out of four, I thank the club for that. I would be happier if they gave me four of four but they did a great effort for me.”

Of course, there’s still time for Man United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to bring in that fourth player.

He’s failed in his attempts to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan but don’t be surprised if another player is brought in before the window shuts at the end of the month.

Mourinho is prioriting a left-back

According to Duncan Castles, Mourinho has prioritised the arrival of a new left-back as he looks to add the final piece to his squad.

Danny Rose, who has given an explosive interview in which he discussed the possibility of leaving Tottenham, is one of the players being considered.

And Castles has put forward the idea that Luke Shaw, whose application and attitude has frustrated Mourinho, could be used in any offer for Rose.

Rose's interview

In an interview with The Sun, Rose admitted he wants to see Spurs sign some big names.

“I am not saying buy 10 players,” the 27-year-old said. “I’d love to see two or three — and not players you have to Google and say, ‘Who’s that?’ I mean well-known players.”

Rose admitted he plans to play football up north in the future, which puts Man United in the picture.

“I want to win something,” he continued. “I will say this too: I will play up north. I don’t know exactly when, but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere.

“I moved away from home at 16. I have been away for over ten years now and I don’t get to see my mum that often.

"I am going to make it my priority before I retire to play football up there.”

There’s every chance Mourinho will push to sign Rose before the month is out after his comments.
