Dave Hibbert grabbed a second-half equaliser to earn Shrewsbury a 1-1 draw against 10-man Torquay.

The Shrews still looked out of sorts following their shock FA Cup defeat to Staines last weekend but their cause was helped when Torquay's Kieran Charnock saw red for an over-the-top tackle on Dean Holden 10 minutes after half-time.

Paul Simpson's side immediately set about making the numerical advantage count and on-loan Southampton goalkeeper Michael Poke saved well from Holden twice and then from Jamie Devitt.

However, with 76 minutes gone Torquay took the lead when Wayne Carlisle broke free on the left and squared the ball for Chris Hargreaves to score from 18 yards as his low shot was deflected past Chris Neal.

Graham Coughlan's header appeared to go in off the far post but referee Graham Scott waved play on but a minute later Hibbert fired in from 12 yards to give the home side a deserved point.
