The FIFA World Rankings have been released once more and it's fair to say that more than a few eyebrows have been raised - even for FIFA.The stings have long been shrouded in controversy and only recently Belgium were the number one ranked side in the world despite not even coming close to winning a major tournament lately, and trailing Wales for long spells of the Euro 2016 qualification. The new number one ranked side in the world is Brazil. Germany have somehow slipped to second despite the fact that they are the reigning world champions and they won the Confederations Cup this summer - without even their strongest side. They also won the European Under-21 Championship, but it seems FIFA's point scoring system has bypassed the senior facts. So how does the top 10 look? Well, it will take some explaining.Switzerland are now ranked the fourth-best side in the world by FIFA, their highest ranking since 1993. And who is in fifth, you might ask? Well, Poland, of course. The likes of Spain, Italy, France, England and reigning European champions Portugal are all below their continental counterparts and it's baffling how FIFA have come to such a conclusion.Fans took to Twitter to express their disbelief at such ludicrous standings:

England sits 13th in the world and can't really complain too much. Although recently in qualification they have always been strong, their draw with Scotland earlier this summer certainly didn't help their case.

Peru are breathing down the Three Lions' necks in 15th while Wales, who got to the last four of the European Championships last year but have made a sluggish start to World Cup qualifying, are down in 18th.

Iceland, who gave England their unlikely demise at the Euros, are in 20th while other surprise nations in the top 30 include Iran, Congo and Costa Rica.

it's also worth noting that Northern Ireland are 23rd in the rankings while the Republic of Ireland lies in 29th place.

What do YOU think of FIFA's rankings? Is there much point in them at all?
