Danny Rose rocked the footballing world on Thursday morning by criticising Tottenham for their transfer policy and wage structure.

The 26-year-old, who described himself as "opinionated" and has spent the past six months out injured, also opened the door to leaving this summer due to his frustrations.

Rose is believed to be on £65,000-per-week but believes he deserves to be paid more following two superb seasons at White Hart Lane.

Indeed, his performances for Spurs at left-back have seen him named in the past two PFA Team of the Years.

He's now given his manager, Mauricio Pochettino, a huge headache ahead of the new season with his comments, which you can see below.

"I am opinionated and I might not have long left in football," he told The Sun's Dave Kidd. "One thing is for sure, for the rest of this career, I will play this game how I want to play it.

"At my age, and having missed six months with injury, I have been thinking about this quite a lot. I am reaching my peak and have probably only got one big contract left in me.

"Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal. Sorry, that's not what I am about. I wouldn't be happy with that. I want to win something.

"I will say this too - I will play up north. I don't know exactly when, but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere.

"Being injured has harmed me on and off the field in a lot of ways. When you're injured you get a lot of time to think and I’ve had a lot of 'what if?' moments. It's been hard to deal with.

"One thing is for sure - I know my worth and I will make sure I get what I am worth. I am not playing as well as I have done not to get paid what I think I am worth."

Rose's scathing comments drew a lot of criticism from fans and the media alike, with Gary Neville saying on Twitter that he should have dealt with the matter in a "professional manner".

Lord Sugar also described Rose as "unprofessional and totally ungrateful", with rumours now swirling of a move to Manchester United or Chelsea.

There was a question of how Tottenham's players would react to Rose's interview and now their feelings have been revealed, The Sun also reports.

And they're not what you would expect. Rose's teammates apparently applauded him at training on Thursday for criticising Tottenham's wage structure and threatening to leave.

Rose was fined two weeks' wages for his explosive interview, but it would appear the vast majority of Tottenham's players are in agreement with what he said and could now speak out, too.

That will come as a big surprise to Neville, who also tweeted that Rose might have annoyed his teammates by demanding more money - despite being on the treatment table for the past six months.

"Imagine walking into the training ground having not been fit for months and months. Morning lads!" the Sky Sports pundit said.
