Arsenal host Leicester City in the Premier League's curtain-raiser on Friday night ahead of what is sure to be an interesting season for the Gunners.

Having missed out on Champions League football for the first time since 1995 last term, Arsene Wenger's men have a huge point to prove.

They've recruited well this summer, signing Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record deal, and it's expected further signings will follow.

Wenger's top priority before the transfer window closes, though, is tying Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain down to new contracts.

Ozil is reportedly close to agreeing a deal worth approximately £250,000-per-week in wages, while Wenger insists Oxlade-Chamberlain will also put pen to paper.

This is despite strong interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, with the latter weighing up a £35 million move for the England international.

As for Sanchez - well, it's anyone's guess what the future holds.

Reports earlier this week stated the Chilean had accepted he will not be able to leave Arsenal this summer for Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.

Sanchez is keen to reunite with Pep Guardiola at City and now wants to see out the remaining 12 months of his Arsenal contract to join on a free next summer.

His supposed desire to leave has put Wenger in a difficult situation and according to the Daily Mail, the Frenchman has now cracked to the point where he's abandoned his moral code.

Wenger has offered Sanchez a massive £300,000-per-week contract to stay at Arsenal, which would make him the Premier League's top earner.

A previous wage packet of £225,000-per-week was put on the table, but Sanchez said no and demanded at least £300,000 to stay.

He's now been offered that amount and it remains to be seen whether he'll accept.

Should Sanchez reject Wenger's offer, it would be a clear sign he wants to leave and will see out the remaining 12 months of his contract.

Wenger would then be resigned to eventually losing Sanchez for absolutely nothing in the knowledge that no amount of money will convince him otherwise.

Sanchez rejecting a new contract would come as another blow to Arsenal having already lost him for Friday's game against Leicester.

The 28-year-old suffered an abdominal injury in training and isn't expected to return for another couple of weeks.
