WWE is returning to Philadelphia for next year’s Royal Rumble PPV (pay-per-view) event. WWE will be holding the Royal Rumble on January 28th, 2018 at the Wells Fargo Center.

WWE will be holding an NXT Takeover special on 1/27/18, RAW on 1/29/18 and SmackDown Live on 1/30/18. All four events listed above will be held at the Wells Fargo Center, which marks the first time WWE has held four events in a row at that arena. WWE held the Royal Rumble event in Philadelphia back in 2004 and 2015.

During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar might be facing Braun Strowman in a one-on-one match sometime this year.

In the case of the match not taking place this year, it could take place early next year, possibly at the Royal Rumble. If you recall, the match was originally set to take place a few months back but Strowman suffered an injury and plans were changed as a result of the injury.

Speaking of the current WWE Universal Champion, Meltzer would also speculate that Lesnar could be pinning Samoa Joe in the Fatal 4-Way WWE Universal Title match at SummerSlam. The reason for this match finish is due to WWE wanting to protect Strowman and Roman Reigns.

It was previously reported that Lesnar isn’t leaving WWE as he’s scheduled for events after SummerSlam. He is set to appear on a few upcoming episodes of Monday Night Raw and will work the No Mercy pay-per-view event.

His opponent at the upcoming No Mercy PPV has yet to be revealed. It will most likely be one of the competitors in the Fatal 4-Way match as it has been the hottest program that the company has had since the Goldberg - Lesnar feud earlier this year.
