On his day, there are few more creative players on tour than four-time major champion Rory McIlroy. That is probably why he is one of only four players to win three majors by the age of 25.When put in a difficult position, McIlroy can usually find a rather unorthodox method to escape and he was at it again during the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday. The Northern Irishman, who was two under par after 12 holes, was eager to get his game back on track after a disappointing end to the first round.

McIlroy bogeyed the 13th and drove into the water on the 14th on his way to a double-bogey six, and ended up signing for a one-over-par 72 to finish five shots off the pace.

However, he did not let that deter him and his undoubted talent was clear for everyone to see as he pulled off one of the most difficult and exceptional shots of the tournament so far.

The PGA, via Twitter, released a brilliant video showing his thought process behind a crazy shot along the cart path on the 10th, after missing the green with his second shot.

The former world no.1 couldn't even see the green from his position but was still able to get himself out of trouble with a fantastic shot bouncing along the path and finishing not too far away from the flag - watch below.

Full marks for creativity!

Unfortunately, it was not enough to inspire a round good enough to propel McIlroy into contention as he finished the second day 10 shots off the lead on two over.
