Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were reunited on Friday night ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League opener between Arsenal and Leicester City.Sky Sports’ comedy double act have been exchanging digs on Twitter and Instagram throughout the summer, but it was Gary Neville who got first blood in front of the cameras this season. As the saying goes: if you come at the king, you best not miss, but fortunately for Neville his subtle little dig was a beauty. (Scroll down to watch the footage). Before that, though, what a thrilling match we were all treated to last night. It will surely go down as a genuine contender for the best ever Premier League opener. Arsenal came back from 3-2 down, scoring two goals in the final 10 minutes to secure all three points. Before kick-off, Neville, Carragher and Sky’s new host Kelly Cates conducted their pre-match build-up on the Emirates Stadium pitch. It worked pretty well, in fairness, and was well received by viewers commenting on social media.

Neville burns Carragher two minutes into the season

Neville’s first burn of the season came just two minutes into the show after he almost made the terrible mistake of calling Carragher a friend.

As soon as he realised what was about to come out of his mouth, the former Manchester United captain quickly corrected himself and said “colleague” instead.

Carragher, somewhat surprisingly, didn’t react. Instead he smiled and allowed Neville to continue speaking.

The real fun will begin when they meet for the first Monday Night Football of the season on August 21 for the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Everton.
