Symes back to haunt Bantams

Bradford old boy Michael Symes earned a point for Accrington on his return to Valley Parade after the visitors fought back to draw 1-1.

Bradford took the lead after 20 minutes when Phil Edwards turned Michael Flynn's cross into his own net.

The Bantams almost increased their lead five minutes before half-time when Simon Ramsden saw his header stopped on the line by Accrington keeper Ian Dunbavin.

Accrington stepped up the pressure after the break and home keeper Simon Eastwood was forced to dive full length to keep out a shot from John Miles.

However the visitors deservedly equalised after 56 minutes when a pass from Bobby Grant found Symes unmarked on the edge of the penalty area and he beat Eastwood with a low left-foot shot.

Bradford were handed a great chance to snatch victory two minutes from the end when Grant handled Luke O'Brien's corner but Gareth Evans fired wide from the penalty spot.

Then, in a frantic finish, substitute Michael Boulding saw his shot rebound off the post.
