Brett Pitman scored twice as Bournemouth came from behind to beat Macclesfield 2-1 to return to the top of League Two.

It did not look to be Pitman's day when in the 10th minute he saw his penalty athletically clawed away by Macclesfield goalkeeper Jon Brain after Lee Bell had handled in the box.

The Silkmen then took the lead against the run of play in the 35th minute when teenage centre-back Shaun Brisley scored a speculative volley from the edge of the box.

But Pitman equalised on the stroke of half time with a stunning left-footed volley through a group of players from 18 yards.

John Rooney had a chance to put Macclesfield back in front after 51 minutes but with an open goal begging, he hesitated and the chance was lost.

And Pitman sealed the points after 78 minutes with a glancing header.
