WWE NXT Women's Champion Asuka could just possibly be the most dominant female competitor the WWE has ever seen.

Asuka began her professional wrestling career back in 2004 and began doing work for various promotions such as Pro Wrestling Wave and Smash before making her United States debut in 2011 with the all female promotion Shimmer Women Athletes. After running through the independent circuit, Asuka was spotted by WWE and was signed to a developmental deal in 2015 as she was sent to NXT. She has dominated since being brought onto the WWE scene, going undefeated for over 180 matches. Do to her dominant performance she was awarded the 2016 NXT Female Competitor Of The Year as well as the current reigning NXT Women's Champion.

She is currently scheduled to defend her NXT Women's Title against top contender Ember Moon at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York next week (Sat. August 19, 2017). Asuka recently did an interview with Newsweek to promote the upcoming bout and talked about her expected call up to the main roster soon.

During the interview, Asuka revealed that after she defeats Moon at NXT TakeOver, she expects to get a step up in competition by being moved to either Monday Night RAW or SmackDown Live (quotes via IWNerd):

“I’m going to go to TakeOver and beat Ember Moon and keep my title. Then I will probably go to Raw or SmackDown and get another title.”

With the current Women's Revolution taking the WWE Universe by storm, as multiple challengers awaiting Asuka as they will attempt to end her undefeated streak, the NXT Women's Champ reveals who she has her eye on for a potential match-up on the main roster:

“I don’t use the words ‘respect’ or ‘admire’ toward my opponents, but I’m interested to have matches with Sasha and Charlotte. Those two women I’ve never faced before.”

Although she said she believes she will be called up after NXT TakeOver, Asuka concluded that when she does finally make her highly-anticipated main roster debut - it will be the right time:

“Of course I want to go to Raw or SmackDown, that’s one of the reasons I joined WWE, but I think there’s an appropriate timing…I’ll go when it’s the right time.”
