A crucial update published by TMZ late on Monday however has confirmed that the Nature boy has undergone surgery.

Flair is reportedly recovering in hospital while surrounded by his family - likely including Smackdown superstar and his daughter Charlotte.

The report wasn't able to confirm how the surgery went however and there is still a lot of concern surrounding the 68- year old.

A mention was made to Flair on Monday's episode of RAW in which Michael Cole wasn't able to confirm any further details.

Cole confirmed that he has undergone surgery but that he is "not out of the woods yet."

Since Flair was hospitalised, tributes and well wishes have been pouring in as a who's who of the WWE Hall of Fame have visited him.

News about Flair will hopefully be more forthcoming over the next few days now that he has undergone surgery.

It is however a horrendous start to a huge week for both WWE and Charlotte Flair as Summer Slam is set to take place on Sunday night.

Bad start to a big week

Summer Slam will take place at the Barclays Center on Sunday night and with this week arguably being the second biggest of the year for the company, the situation surrounding Flair is even more concerning.

So far, Charlotte hadn't been confirmed for a match on Sunday night and given the personal issues now surrounding her, she may be set to miss the event this year.

With one episode of Smackdown remaining before Summer Slam, fans will be interesting to see if Charlotte is able to make an appearance.
