In each of the past two playoff runs, the Cleveland Cavaliers signed Dahntay Jones to be a disrupter on the court. Picking up a trio of technical fouls in this past season’s playoffs, Jones’ words are apparently one of his main assets. The first two came in the second round against the Toronto Raptors when he lost two-thirds of his salary in two minutes on the court as the result of a fine levied to him. The third came when he was talking trash to Kevin Durant from Cleveland’s bench in Game 4 of the Finals.Via Barstool Sports’ Mickstape podcast, Jones revealed his surprising thoughts on two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry.“People get mad at me, because I don’t declare him a top-10 player in the NBA, which is fine,” Jones said. “I’ve got him on the outside - like 11,12.”The veteran’s top three consisted of LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant (in that order) followed by John Wall, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Chris Paul, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Davis (in no particular order).Despite the fact that Curry won two MVP honors and finished sixth in both of the other years over a four-year stretch, he didn’t crack Jones’ top 10. Given the fact that Cleveland has shown loyalty by signing him in each of the past two seasons, Jones could be showing that loyalty back by slighting Curry.Shortly after Jones’ comments went viral, Dwyane Wade weighed in with a simple emoji response.

Averaging 25.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game last season, Curry has been to four-straight All-Star Games and has won two All-NBA First Team and two All-NBA Second Team honors in addition to his MVPs. To add, he has been a major reason why the Warriors have been to three-straight NBA Finals, winning two championships in that span.

Already recognized as the best shooter in basketball history by many, Curry has also revolutionized the modern NBA, creating a major emphasis beyond the arc, where his style of play has swept the sport.

But, all that apparently didn’t matter to Jones, who feels as though each of the players on his list is superior. This isn’t the first time that Jones has stirred up trouble, either.

In 2009, he appeared to trip Kobe Bryant during the Western Conference Finals before arguably intentionally spraining Kobe’s ankle four years later. Last postseason, Jones hit Bismack Biyombo in the groin during meaningless minutes in the Eastern Conference Finals. Two seasons ago, he bumped Draymond Green when he was doing a postgame interview and also knocked Curry to the floor while attempting to box him out in a Finals game a couple of months ago.

Therefore, if Jones was brought into Cleveland to spark up trouble, he’s certainly doing his job, even for free in the offseason.
