The latest victim to fall foul is Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, with his latest Twitter post falling into the slightly unfortunate bracket.
The now BT Sport pundit uploaded a picture from his halcyon days with the Devils, but, eagle-eyed Arsenal fans were quick to point out one major flaw.
FERDINAND'S POST
The picture contained Ferdinand alongside Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane with a caption saying, "talk to me about this lineup".
Of course, the legendary centre-back did not think things through and instead of happy United fans, he was targeted by Gunners supporters.
Fans of the London side correctly pointed out that the picture came from the 2005 FA Cup final, a game United lost to Arsene Wenger's side on penalties in Cardiff.
The revelation led to a lot of hilarious posts.
ARSENAL FANS REACT
Ouch, Ferdinand will be wary not to do something similar in the near future.
The Englishman has been commenting on his old side's chances this season, saying that he believes they have what it takes to win the title.
However, Ferdinand did say he was gutted they didn't move for Neymar.
"Neymar’s up for £196m… Man United are one of the richest clubs in the world," he told his Youtube channel Five .
"I would have loved to have seen him go to Manchester United. Neymar in a red Man United shirt? Number 7, woah, or number 11.
"Dirty, it would have been dirty but it wasn’t to be."
