Conor McGregor has scoffed at the idea of meeting former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi in the ring, telling the retired American to "join the queue".

Malignaggi had joined team McGregor as a sparring partner in the build up to the Irishman's mega-bout with Floyd Mayweather but stormed out of the training camp after pictures surfaced on social media showing him on the canvas with McGregor standing over him.

The pictures, released by the McGregor camp left a sour taste in Malignaggi's mouth, after he claimed to have been pushed down by the mixed-martial arts man. However, the McGregor camp has stated that those claims are simply untrue and that Malignaggi was floored legally.

It has lead to a bitter back and forth exchange between the two men on social media and on the airwaves, coming to a head this week with Malignaggi calling McGregor out, by saying he wants to fight the Irishman on St. Patricks day next year.

“Tell the kid to join the queue, tell the kid to shut his mouth and join the queue.
" said McGregor in response.

“He got his ass whooped and went sprinting.

“There’s a long line of people wanting to fight me so he can join the queue.”

Malignaggi retired from the sport earlier this year after losing to Sam Eggington but it looks as though a return could be on the cards if an agreement with Conor McGregor can be reached.

"When you don't like someone you don't spar them, you fight them.

"It's picked up a ton of momentum, the bad blood is there so let's fight.
"

Malignaggi has garnered a lot of attention for himself out of the Mayweather-McGregor build up, and now we see why the American has been so vocal. However, it looks as though McGregor is not terribly willing to grant his former partner the pay day he is seeking.

That hasn't stopped Malignaggi though, who has continued to unapologetically convey how he feels about the Irishman.

"We'll need to see how he looks against Mayweather. If he looks dog s***, no one will want to see us fight.

"As long as he doesn't get the living s*** beaten out of him, I think the demand is there to make the fight."

As hard as Malignaggi might try though, it is hard to see how a bout between the two could ever come to fruition.
