The 2017/18 season for the Cleveland Cavaliers will be clouded by uncertainty over the future of superstar LeBron James as he'll become a free agent next summer. The Cavs have been here before when LBJ opted to join the Miami Heat in 2010 and they know that topic will continue to be the elephant in the room throughout the next campaign. Just like his last departure from Cleveland, nobody will know of LeBron's intentions until the free agency period opens up next year. There's no doubt that his sole focus will be on the Cavaliers and winning another championship for his team. Until then, we will be dealing entirely with rumours and there was a particularly interesting report that surfaced on Tuesday. Veteran NBA reporter Chris Sheridan attempted to shed some light on James' future in Cleveland with an interesting tweet claiming an NBA source told him, "This will be LeBron's final season in Cleveland. He is 100 percent leaving. Relationship with owners beyond repair."

As you can imagine, this story was published across many outlets and generated many reactions across social media.

But this was immediately shot down by LeBron's camp who were contacted by several reporters.

Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com took to Twitter to share the response he got from sources close to the Cavs superstar.

"For what it's worth (damn it, I'm on vacation), three sources close to LeBron said this latest tweet about him is 100 percent false," he said.

"I have more: three sources paid particular attention to LeBron's relationship with ownership, and said LeBron does not view it that way.

"And finally, one of the sources close to LeBron said there is no NBA source who could speak on his behalf in the way it was reported."

Vardon's comments were backed up by Fox Sports' Chris Broussard, who also spoke with members of The King's team.

"2 sources close to LeBron insist he hasn't made decision on future w/Cavs past next season & he won't make a decision before end of season," Broussard said.

This is only the beginning of the speculation over King James' future in Ohio and we're likely to see "sources" confirming or denying stories throughout the year.

The four-time MVP can opt-out of his current deal next summer and the Cavaliers will be faced with a huge dilemma as star point guard Kyrie Irving has also asked for a trade.

Any decision they make on Kyrie could impact LeBron and they could realistically face the prospect of losing their star duo over the next year.
