Although he still appears regularly on WWE TV as SmackDown Live's general manager, fans would love to see Daniel Bryan wrestle again once more inside a WWE ring. That might not ever happen again, however, as he was forced to retire as an active WWE wrestler in February last year as the company's doctors would not clear him to return to the ring after suffering several concussions throughout his career.Despite this, Bryan still has a desire to wrestle and could be forced to leave the WWE to pursue that passion if the company doesn't allow him to return to the ring. He has been cleared by independent doctors to return to active wrestling, but WWE doctors won't allow it.

The former WWE Champion's contract with the WWE reportedly expires in September 2018, which could be the date he leaves the company as well, and according to his wife and former WWE superstar Brie Bella, that's a real possibility.

Brie said during an appearance on an episode of the podcast From The Top Rope, according to Cageside Seats: “I told Bryan, ‘You do have a daughter, so always remember that. But if the doctors finally give you the green light,’ I go, ‘Go! This is your dream and passion. You have one life to live and I will never hold you back.'

"Because I love to wrestle, and I would hate if someone told me you can’t do it. And if WWE doesn’t allow it, then I said, ‘Go somewhere else. It’s all on you.’ Obviously, he would love to be able to get back in that WWE ring, but I know for a fact my husband is going to find his way back to the ring. He honestly is.”

According to reports, there has been a lot of outside interest in Bryan if he does decide to return to the ring and WWE doesn't allow it to be with them. Back in June this year after Cody won the Ring of Honor World Championship, Bryan tweeted at him, saying he would come after him once his contract expires.

Bryan did tease possibly getting into a storyline with The Miz last year and returning to the ring, but this never happened as, despite the strong response behind the segment, it was unplanned and therefore not supposed to happen in WWE's eyes.

From the looks of things, Bryan could very well be returning to the ring in September next year, whether it is with the WWE or not.
