Earlier this summer, the Drive By Dunk Challenge took the basketball community by storm as fans, players and coaches posted videos on social media of themselves driving up to random driveways, getting out of their vehicles and throwing down jams on unsuspecting hoops.Although the challenge has lost its viral appeal over time, Houston Rockets superstar James Harden got in on the action on Thursday, posting one of the most creative videos of the entire movement so far.Joining the likes of New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis, Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown and president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari and Sacramento Kings rookie De’Aaron Fox among others, Harden took the task to the next level. While enjoying the beautiful weather in Miami, Florida, Harden jumped off the boat he was on, snuck up on a group of guys playing a pickup game, and threw down a one-handed rim-rattler to the awe of the unsuspecting ballers.Check out the video below, shared on Foot Locker’s official Twitter page:

It has been quite the summer for Harden.

Shortly after posting incredible numbers and leading the Rockets to a playoff berth last season, Houston acquired fellow superstar Chris Paul in what was one of the biggest moves of the offseason so far. Trade rumors involving the New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony have also involved the Rockets, thus creating even more positive hype.

Over the years, Harden has become one of the more likable players in the league, not only for his incredible skills on the court, but also his easygoing personality off of it. Recently, ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski sat down with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, who revealed that not only fans, but also fellow NBA players, gravitate to Harden due to his intelligence and leadership.

“… One-on-one he’s so good with people. Obviously the great guys are all together. Whether it be USA Basketball or weddings or whatever it is. They get together and they talk. And one-on-one I can say James is an unbelievable recruiter because he’s smart. He understands the plan. He wants to execute for the team he’s leading. It makes my job easy, frankly, to have him," Morey said.

While he may have had some help thinking of the boat idea for his Drive By Challenge video (judging by the fact it was posted to Foot Locker’s page), it might eventually go down as the most creative of them all.
