It's not just fans that are craving for some basketball action, the world's best player is also desperate for the new season to start. Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James has shown his eagerness for the new NBA campaign to get underway again on multiple occasions. He has taken to Twitter several times to express the withdrawal symptoms he's experiencing without playing basketball on a daily basis. He even stated: "Off season please hurry up and end, I have basketball Jones!!" in one of his tweets and has been eagerly arranging pick up games with players across the league, wherever they may be.
The King finally got some action in recently, though, as he was involved in a star-studded pickup game in New York alongside Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony.
It was a real treat for fans but, unfortunately, the reality is the real stuff doesn't kick in again for another two months.
LeBron, however, used social media once again to express how desperate he is for the new season to begin.
The four-time MVP posted a picture on Instagram donning the new Nike-designed Cavaliers jersey for the first time.
To accompany the photo he included the caption: "Welcome to the Terrordome!! Let’s get this thing back going ASAP!! Savage Season 15 #striveforgreatness #SavageMode #IFeelSoGoodRightNowItsScary"
After the disappointment of losing in the Finals to the Golden State Warriors in June, it's clear that King James is determined to get back on the court as soon as possible and make a run for another title.
The Cavs revealed the "Icon" jersey that James is wearing earlier this month. The wine colour represents the team’s “unique identity and rich heritage.”
The Ohio-based franchise will be kicking off their NBA regular season campaign with a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics on 17 October.
Despite LeBron's positive frame of mind, the team will be heading into next year with uncertainty over his future.
The 32-year-old will be a free agent in 2018 and rumours continue to circulate about whether he will leave Cleveland or not.
On top of that, the organisation is already having to deal with a trade request submitted by All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving who has informed the Cavs hierarchy that he no longer wants to play with James.
Cleveland has endured a frustrating offseason and these major issues will drag on into the new season which will not be ideal preparation.
