It has been a turbulent few weeks for Barcelona after the departure of Neymar, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a £197m deal, making him the world's most expensive footballer.

The Blaugrana now face the unenviable task of scouring Europe to find suitable replacements for the 25-year-old and so far, Ernesto Valverde's side have struggled to make any progress.

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is the Spanish giants' top target and they have already had three bids for the Brazilian rejected by Jurgen Klopp's side.

Liverpool are trying to stand firm over the 25-year-old and it is thought that they will not enter into negotiations with Barca.

However, pundits and fans alike have pointed out that keeping the South American ace could be detrimental to the side due to his clear desire to leave.

As such, Klopp and the board may have to cave in and offload the Brazilian international and according to Spanish publication Sport, they may be about to do so.

They report that the Liverpool hierarchy will sit down with Barca representatives to discuss the transfer after the club's Champions League qualifier against Hoffenheim on Wednesday evening.

With the Senegalese international, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all in good goal scoring form, losing Coutinho may not be the worst thing to happen to Liverpool.
